Energy Efficiency

Windows designed to minimize heat transfer between the interior and exterior of a building, reducing heating and cooling costs while enhancing comfort and environmental sustainability. Through a Maine winter that shows up as fewer cold spots near the glass, less condensation on the frames, and a furnace that runs less to hold the same temperature.

Window Replacement

When planning a window replacement project, it's essential to consider factors such as the type of windows needed, budget constraints, local building codes and regulations, and hiring a reputable contractor or installer to ensure proper installation. Additionally, energy efficiency ratings, warranties, and maintenance requirements should be taken into account when selecting new windows. We've got you covered. We'll walk the house with you, point out which windows are actually costing you money and which ones are fine for now, and give you a plan you can do all at once or in stages.

Windows designed with telescoping sill dams and low-profile frames that keep out moisture and offer maximum insulation. They are engineered for maximum energy efficiency. Vinyl is the most affordable of the three and never needs painting or refinishing, which makes it the most common choice for a whole-house replacement.

What Makes A Window Work In Maine

A window is only as good as the opening it sits in. Most of the draft people feel near an old window isn’t coming through the glass, it’s coming around the frame, through gaps in the rough opening that were never properly sealed or flashed. That’s why a careful install matters more than the sticker on the glass, and why two houses with the same windows can feel completely different in February.

The glass still counts. Double and triple pane units with a low-E coating and an insulating gas fill slow the heat moving through the window itself, and a warm-edge spacer around the perimeter keeps cold from tracking in at the edge of the pane, which is where condensation usually shows up first. The right balance of insulating value and solar gain depends on which direction the window faces.

Older Maine homes bring their own puzzles. Openings are rarely square, sills have often taken on water over the years, and the original trim is frequently worth saving. We’ll open things up carefully, tell you what we find underneath, and put it back so it looks like it belongs. Give us a ring at (207) 592-3911 or use the form below to set up a free quote.
